Online dictionary of Playground slang |
The New(ish) People This dictionary was originally the brainchild of Rob Langley. The pressure of other committments meant this "work in progress" - as we hope it will always remain - was passed to new hands to safeguard its development. It has been progressing well over the past few years and now has undergone another transformation, utilising PHP and MySQL via the Glossword scripts to maintain the database |
The current curator of the site is Chris Lewis. Chris has qualifications in Psychology and Computing, but his best known attribute is his desire to record "ephemera". That flimsy whimsy society throws up and discards. Thus follows the interest in slang words, one of the most transient forms of language. Currently he is able to work from home where he can be both a house spouse, and spend part of his days looking after his young daughters. Luckily this gives him plenty of time to maintain the site AND surf. What more could anyone want! |
Sue was the designer of the first restructured site, and so we owe her a vote of thanks. Simplicity and ease of access were her watchwords and she followed them unfailingly. The current site template was designed by Dmitry Shilnikov, Glossword creator, and Sue has adapted this for the rest of the site. Currently Sue runs Hamarana.com - but still loves to play with words (dont they all?). She also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Class I Honours, having majored in Linguistics. Her other interests include expanding on her already wide knowledge of the net, web page design, graphic design, and flying dual control stunt kites...hence her nickname, "kyte" |
